Privacy Policy

Last updated October 1, 2026
In short: gitKiman doesn't have a server, so there's nothing for it to collect. Your repositories and git data stay on your Mac. Two features reach the network, and only when you use them: connecting a GitHub account, and generating a commit message with Claude.

1. Who this covers

This policy describes the gitKiman macOS application and this website. gitKiman is developed independently. Questions go to hello@tokyo-iceman.com.

2. What we don't collect

gitKiman has no backend, no account system, and no analytics, crash‑reporting, or advertising SDKs. We don't know you opened the app, which repositories you have, or what you committed — there is nowhere for that information to go.

3. What's stored, and where

Everything below stays on your Mac:

  • Repository list and preferences — which folders you've opened, and app settings like theme, density and accent color — stored locally via SwiftData.
  • Folder access — security‑scoped bookmarks, Apple's standard mechanism for a sandboxed app to keep permission to a folder you've chosen, across restarts.
  • Git credentials and API keys — HTTPS/SSH credentials for your git remotes, and any API key you enter (for example, an Anthropic API key), are stored in the macOS Keychain, protected by the system. You can remove a saved account at any time from gitKiman's settings.

4. Services gitKiman talks to, only when you ask

gitKiman has no server of its own. The only network connections it makes are to services you explicitly configure or invoke:

  • Your git remotes. Fetch, pull and push go directly from your Mac to whatever host you've configured — GitHub, GitLab, a self‑hosted server, or anything else — using standard git protocols.
  • GitHub, if you connect an account for Pull Request features. Requests go directly from your Mac to GitHub's API, authenticated with your token. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
  • Anthropic, only when you use "Generate commit message." The diff of your currently staged changes is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce a suggested message; nothing is sent unless you trigger this action. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

5. Children's privacy

gitKiman is a developer tool and isn't directed at children.

6. Changes to this policy

If gitKiman's data practices change — for example, if a future version adds an optional sync service — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change.
